Agartala, August 28, 2025: Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen (72) is currently undergoing treatment at Aster CMI Hospital, Bangalore following a critical neurosurgical condition.
According to an official medical bulletin issued by Dr. Ravi Gopal Varma, Director of the Global Centre for Excellence in Neurosciences and Lead Consultant Neurosurgeon at Aster CMI, Sen was shifted from Tripura to Bangalore after suffering a left thalamocapsular bleed with intraventricular extension.
He had earlier undergone a decompressive craniotomy in Tripura. Upon arrival at Aster CMI, he was on ventilator support with stable vitals. A CT brain scan revealed hydrocephalus and raised intracranial pressure, necessitating an emergency right frontal EVD placement.
The Speaker subsequently underwent a tracheostomy and was gradually weaned off ventilator support. Doctors confirmed that he is now breathing on room air. His EVD was replaced on the eighth postoperative day to prevent infection, and his condition is currently stable.
“Neurologically, he remains the same, but the pressure in the brain has relatively reduced,” the hospital stated.
Sen continues to remain under close observation at Aster CMI Hospital, Bengaluru.
