Agartala, July 25, 2025: The Higher Education Department of Tripura on Friday suspended Dr. Santanu Majumder, Assistant Professor of GDC, Kamalpur in Dhalai district after a viral video allegedly showed him behaving inappropriately with a girl student on campus.
According to the official order dated July 24, 2025, the suspension follows a preliminary report submitted by the disciplinary committee of the college. The report, forwarded by the Principal of GDC Kamalpur, confirmed the incident and noted that Dr. Majumder admitted the act was a mistake on his part.
The order stated that by engaging in such conduct within the college premises, Dr. Majumder had violated the dignity and decorum of the institution and compromised the ethics of the teaching profession.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-Rule (1) of Rule 10 of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965, Dr. Santanu Majumder is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect,” reads the order signed by Raval H. Kumar, Special Secretary to the Government of Tripura.
During the suspension period, Dr. Majumder’s headquarters will be at ICV College, Belonia, South Tripura. He has been instructed to report to the Principal of ICV College and not leave the station without prior permission.
Copies of the suspension order have been forwarded to the Principal of GDC Kamalpur, ICV College Belonia and other concerned officials for necessary action.
