Agartala, May 29, 2025: Rupali Sarkar, a resident of Dakshin Charilam (Madhyapara) in Tripura’s Sepahijala district has emerged as a beacon of inspiration for women entrepreneurs through her successful bamboo craft enterprise, thanks to technological and training support from ‘Arkaneer’ under the Government of India’s ‘Sunil Project’.
Supported financially by the Department of Science and Technology and jointly managed by the NB Institute for Rural Technology, Arkaneer and Visva Bharati University, Kolkata, Rupali received hands-on training in bamboo ornament-making. Her journey began with modest efforts and a strong will, which soon transformed her into a self-reliant businesswoman.
“Initially, sales were low, but I didn’t give up. I participated in fairs from villages to state-level exhibitions, showcasing my bamboo ornaments. Slowly, the demand grew, and so did my confidence,” said Rupali. Today, she heads her own registered enterprise, Rupali Enterprise (Udyam – T.R – 05-0002933), and regularly sets up stalls at the cultural fair in Nandannagar, Agartala.
With the support of a tool kit, marketing training, and mentorship provided by Arkaneer and the Sunil Project, Rupali has also brought other trained women together to form Self-Help Groups. “I’m happy that my journey has encouraged other women in my area to step forward. It’s fulfilling to walk this path together,” she added.
Rupali’s work has earned her accolades, including the Best Woman Award from the Tripura Women’s Commission and recognition from the Kalyani Dey Foundation. “I am deeply grateful to every official of the Sunil Project and my industrial friend Arkaneer. My goal now is not just to become successful, but a crorepati,” she said with a smile.
The Arkaneer team has expressed pride in her achievements, calling her a symbol of grassroots innovation and empowerment.
