Tripura: Bangladeshi National Arrested in Agartala for Illegal Entry

Agartala, January 5, 2026: Tripura Police have arrested a Bangladeshi national from Krishnanagar in the heart of Agartala city on charges of illegal entry into India. The accused has been identified as Babul Mia, a resident of Nawabganj in Bangladesh.

Police officials informed that the arrest was made during a special operation conducted across several key areas of the city following a tip-off from intelligence sources. During the operation, a youth was detained on suspicion of being a Bangladeshi national. On interrogation, the accused admitted that he had crossed the border illegally to enter India.

Authorities said Babul Mia is being intensively questioned to determine the purpose of his visit and the exact border route he used. Investigators are also probing whether he has links to any trafficking or smuggling networks.

Police confirmed that the accused will be produced before the court as per legal procedures.
