Agartala, October 14, 2025: An IndiGo flight en route to Kolkata was forced to make an emergency landing at Tripura’s Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala shortly after take-off on Tuesday afternoon, following a suspected bird strike.
Flight 6E-9203, which departed around 12:40 PM, returned to the airport after its left engine was reportedly hit by birds during ascent. The aircraft landed safely, and all passengers and crew members were unharmed.
The airline has grounded the aircraft for maintenance inspections, while technical teams assess the extent of the damage. Airport authorities confirmed that the incident has not disrupted regular flight operations.
Speaking to Northeast Today, MBB Airport Director Kailash Chandra Meena said, “The detailed report is yet to come. There might be some technical glitches faced by the pilot in the flight, that is why the pilot may have made an emergency landing in the airport.”
Further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.
