Agartala, October 24, 2025: Tripura BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee on Friday strongly condemned the Tripura Civil Society (TCS) for allegedly instigating large-scale violence following a 24-hour strike, assuring that strict action will be taken against the culprits.
Bhattacharjee visited GB Pant Hospital to meet the victims injured in the Santirbazar village attack under Salema block of Kamalpur sub-division in Dhalai district. According to reports, the violence erupted soon after the strike called by the TCS, leaving several, including an engineer and a Block Development Officer (BDO), injured.

Speaking to reporters, Bhattacharjee said, “The issues raised by them were already discussed in the Assembly, and the Chief Minister has given a clear reply. A tripartite agreement was signed, and the final decision will come from Delhi. But resorting to such violent acts in the name of protest is painful and highly condemnable.”

He further confirmed that he had spoken with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who is personally monitoring the situation. “Hooliganism under the banner of civil society will not be tolerated. The CM has already made his stance clear, and our government will ensure strict punishment for those involved. No one responsible for this incident will be spared. We stand firmly with the victims,” he asserted.
Bhattacharjee added that the matter has been brought to the attention of the BJP’s central leadership and that a meeting will soon be convened to discuss the developments. He also warned that such acts of violence appear to be deliberate attempts to disturb the peace and communal harmony maintained during the recent Durga Puja and Diwali festivals.
