Agartala, April 06, 2026: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to form the government in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) for the first time, marking a historic milestone in the state’s political landscape. He also reiterated that the party firmly believes in peace and does not support violence.

Dr. Saha made these remarks while addressing a function at the BJP’s TTAADC headquarters in Khumulwng, where the party released its ‘Sankalp Patra’ comprising 29 promises ahead of the upcoming ADC elections.

Speaking at a press conference, the Chief Minister said the party’s vision document focuses on infrastructure development and holistic progress across multiple sectors. “The Sankalp Patra highlights all key issues. Our main objective is to accelerate development in ADC areas, which have long remained underdeveloped. The double-engine government at the Centre and the state has allocated substantial funds for the ADC. Infrastructure development in tribal areas has been prioritized, and tap water facilities have been ensured under the Jal Jeevan Mission,” he stated.

Dr. Saha further highlighted the initiatives taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, particularly for the rehabilitation of the Bru community. He noted that electricity has already been provided to rehabilitation centres, while drinking water facilities have been ensured even in remote areas like Jampui Hills through innovative measures.

“This was also mentioned by the Prime Minister in his recent Mann Ki Baat programme. Our resolution is based on ground realities, and every point is aimed at the welfare of tribal communities. This time, history will be created as BJP is set to form the government in the ADC for the first time,” he added.

Reiterating the party’s stand against violence, Dr. Saha said, “The BJP does not believe in violence. We are contesting in 28 seats this time. However, incidents of violence have been reported since the announcement. We strongly condemn such acts. We believe in peace, and our central leadership is committed to that path.”

He expressed confidence that tribal voters would support the party’s vision. “The people will understand that this Sankalp Patra is meant for their overall welfare. Our Prime Minister delivers on his promises,” he said.

The event was attended by BJP state president and MP Rajib Bhattacharya, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, former MP Rebati Tripura, and other senior party leaders.
