Agartala, February 9, 2026: The body of Pranab Das, a young blogger from Tripura who had been missing for nearly a month in Nagaland, has finally been brought home, casting a pall of grief over his neighborhood in Srinagar’s Malaynagar Nepali Para.
Das was last seen on January 4 at the Dzükou Valley ticket counter in Viswema village, Kohima district, during a trip to the popular trekking destination. His family lost contact with him that day, and on January 13 they filed a missing person’s report. A massive search operation followed, involving police and volunteers from the Southern Angami Youth Organization and Southern Dzükou Guide Council, who scoured the valley and surrounding areas.
On February 6, around 4 pm, Das’ body was recovered near a river close to the Dzükou Valley helipad. Authorities noted that the severe winter conditions had prevented decomposition. The remains were transported to the Dzükou base camp that night, and after completing legal formalities, handed over to officials.
On Monday, the body was returned to his home, where family members and neighbors broke down in tears. The community has been plunged into mourning, with many expressing condolences on social media over Das’ untimely death.
The exact cause of death remains unclear. Relatives and locals have demanded a thorough and impartial investigation to uncover the truth. Police and administrative authorities have confirmed that inquiries are ongoing.
