Agartala, March 02, 2026: The Budget Session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly for the financial year 2026–27 will commence on March 13, with the state government intensifying preparations to ensure focused and sector-specific financial planning.

Tripura’s Food, Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday said that an important preparatory meeting was held at the Secretariat in the office of the state’s Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, where estimated income and expenditure were reviewed in detail.

Speaking after the meeting, Chowdhury said, “The budget session for the financial year 2026–27 will begin on March 13. Today, at the Secretariat, I attended an important meeting on the Provisional Revised Estimates for 2025–26 and the Budget Estimates for 2026–27 in the office of the Hon’ble Finance Minister.”

He added that the discussions primarily focused on the allocation of funds across key departments under his charge, including Transport, Tourism, Food, Population and Consumer Affairs. “I placed detailed information before the Finance Minister regarding the necessary allocations and sector-wise plans for the departments entrusted to me. The objective is to ensure balanced development and effective implementation of public-oriented schemes during the coming financial year,” the minister said.

Chowdhury emphasized that special attention was given to strengthening transport infrastructure, boosting tourism-related initiatives, and ensuring smooth functioning of food supply and consumer welfare mechanisms across the state. “These sectors directly impact the daily lives of people, and our planning aims to make services more efficient, accessible and transparent,” he noted.

The meeting is part of a series of consultations being conducted by the state government ahead of the budget session, aimed at aligning departmental priorities with fiscal discipline and development goals. The forthcoming budget is expected to outline the government’s roadmap for growth, infrastructure expansion and public welfare in Tripura for 2026–27.
