Tripura: Cameroonian National Held Near Agartala Railway Station Without Valid Passport

Agartala, March 27, 2026: A Cameroonian national was arrested by Amtali Police Station after police personnel found him moving suspiciously near Agartala Railway Station, police said on Friday.

According to police, officers on patrol grew suspicious after noticing the foreign national loitering in the railway station area and detained him for questioning. During interrogation, he disclosed that he is a citizen of Cameroon.

Police said no valid passport or travel documents were recovered from his possession during verification, following which he was taken into custody and brought to Amtali Police Station for further inquiry.

A case has been registered against him under multiple legal provisions, including relevant sections of the Passport Act, 1967.

On Friday afternoon, the accused was produced before a local court, where police sought his remand for further investigation.
