Agartala, May 23, 2026: Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court, M. S. Ramachandra Rao, on Friday advised students to stay away from excessive dependence on mobile phones and social media, saying that true academic success can only be achieved through discipline, dedication and consistent hard work.

He was addressing a programme organised by Auxilium Girls’ School to felicitate the toppers of the CBSE Class X and XII examinations.

During his speech, Justice Rao expressed concern over the growing addiction to electronic gadgets among students. He said several studies have shown that prolonged use of digital media negatively affects concentration, memory and learning abilities.

Encouraging students to remain focused on their goals, the Chief Justice stated that education is not only about securing high marks but also about building character and preparing oneself for future challenges. He stressed the importance of regular study habits, time management, perseverance and the ability to face difficulties with confidence.

Sharing a motivational message with the students, he said, “In school, lessons are taught before a test, but in life, tests often come first and teach valuable lessons later.” He further cautioned students against looking for shortcuts to success.

Justice Rao also urged parents to support their children emotionally instead of burdening them with unrealistic expectations regarding examination results.

He congratulated the meritorious students for their achievements and appreciated the contribution of teachers and guardians in guiding them towards success.

The toppers were later honoured at the programme for their outstanding academic performance.
