Agartala, December 29, 2025: With the English New Year approaching, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha urged citizens to work together in building a united Tripura where all communities and tribes can progress collectively.
Speaking at a Mann Ki Baat listening programme held at the Multi-Purpose Community Hall in Hezamara under Simna block on Sunday, the Chief Minister extended New Year greetings and emphasized the importance of harmony and inclusive growth.
Dr. Saha noted that for years tribal communities had been misled and left underdeveloped. He asserted that the present government, along with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is committed to reversing this trend and ensuring genuine development for tribal populations.
Highlighting national leadership, the Chief Minister pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi appointed a tribal woman as the President of India, named Tripura royal family member Jishnu Dev Varma as Governor of Telangana, and accorded due respect to Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya. “These examples show the government’s dedication to tribal empowerment,” he said, adding that despite challenges, the administration will continue development “to the last mile.”
Dr. Saha further stated that the government is investing extra funds in backward districts, ensuring compensation during land acquisition for alternative national highways reaches tribal families. To strengthen administration, Tripura Civil Service (TCS) officers have been posted at district and subdivision levels for tribal welfare.
In a major relief measure, the honorarium for village chiefs (samajpatis) has been increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000, with the previous cap removed so that all eligible leaders can benefit.
The programme was attended by BJP Tribal Morcha leaders Bipin Debbarma and Mangal Debbarma, among others.
