Agartala, July 10, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday chaired a crucial meeting of the governing body of Agartala Government Dental College and IGM Hospital, focusing on institutional development, patient care, and infrastructure progress.
During the meeting held in Agartala, Dr. Saha emphasized the importance of building a strong reputation for the Dental College from its formative years. “If we can establish its name and fame from the beginning, people across the country will recognize the institution,” he said.
The Chief Minister highlighted that several key issues were discussed, including overall patient welfare, delivery mechanisms, infrastructure requirements, and administrative matters. Stressing the need for sincerity and seriousness among stakeholders, he urged all concerned to actively contribute towards the institution’s growth.
Dr. Saha referred to the Dental College as a “dream project” of the state, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also informed that the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has sanctioned funds for the construction of an additional building to expand infrastructure.
Accommodation facilities for students were another point of discussion. The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure timely construction of hostels and consider proper arrangements for MDS students and interns. Currently, the college has 63 students enrolled in the second year of the BDS programme.
Plans to appoint a chairman to the Rogi Kalyan Samiti were also deliberated during the meeting to further streamline healthcare services at IGM Hospital.
Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director Dr. Tapan Kumar Majumder, and other senior officials attended the session, which highlighted the government’s commitment to elevating healthcare and medical education standards in the state.
