Agartala, September 26, 2025: Ahead of the Durga Puja festivities, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has sanctioned development projects worth Rs. 50.65 crore, aimed at improving civic amenities and supporting workers engaged in public service.
Announcing the decision, Dr. Saha said that Rs. 12 crore has been allocated for sanitation, solid waste management, safe drinking water, drainage, road construction, street lighting in new wards and nagar panchayats, conservation of water bodies, online services, and construction of electric crematoriums across 14 municipalities and six nagar panchayats.
To ensure convenience for the public during the Puja season, Rs. 9.37 crore has been earmarked for maintenance of fixed assets across districts. Additionally, six RD divisions Teliamura, Amarpur, Kumarghat, Kanchanpur, Satchand, and Santirbazar will receive Rs. 9.28 crore for the speedy completion of previously approved construction projects.
Further, administrative approval has been granted for Rs. 17.38 crore to develop key stretches in Agartala city, including the roads from Durga Chowmuhani to Lake Chowmuhani, Lake Chowmuhani to Radhanagar, and the route leading to Buddha Mandir.
On the welfare front, the Chief Minister announced a festival grant of Rs. 2,310 each for 11,150 cook-cum-helpers under the Pradhan Mantri Poshan (School MDM) scheme, amounting to Rs. 2.58 crore in total. Moreover, 26 contractual workers under the Primary Education Department will receive a bonus and advance totaling Rs. 3.60 lakh.
“Realizing the importance of these works and after thorough consultation with departments, we approved projects worth Rs. 50.65 crore in a single day,” Dr. Saha said.
