Agartala, February 14, 2026: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Saturday expressed optimism that relations between India and the new government in Bangladesh would further strengthen in the coming days.
Speaking to media personnel, the Chief Minister said the recent elections in Bangladesh have restored democracy in the neighbouring country, creating an atmosphere of happiness not only among its citizens but also among the people of Tripura. He extended his congratulations to the newly elected Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) government.
Highlighting the historical depth of bilateral ties, Dr Saha said relations between India and Bangladesh have been rooted in shared history, culture and mutual cooperation. While acknowledging that ties had faced challenges in the past due to various reasons, He expressed confidence that cooperation and understanding would help restore and further strengthen the relationship.
The Chief Minister also underlined the long-standing social, cultural and economic connections between Bangladesh and the border state of Tripura. He noted that a stronger relationship would be mutually beneficial for people on both sides of the border.
According to him, the new political scenario in Bangladesh opens up possibilities for positive progress in sectors such as trade, tourism, education and communication. Such developments, he added, would directly benefit the people of Tripura and contribute to regional growth and stability.
