Tripura CM Dr Manik Saha Inaugurates First Cyber Crime Police Station at AD Nagar

Agartala, June 28, 2025: In a major step towards strengthening digital security infrastructure, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday inaugurated the state’s first Cyber Crime Police Station at A.D. Nagar in Agartala.

Highlighting the growing threats in the digital realm, Dr. Saha underlined the importance of strengthening cyber policing mechanisms to counter emerging forms of crime driven by rapid technological advancement. “With changing times, the nature of crime is also evolving. Cybercrime has become a significant threat, and this dedicated police station will play a crucial role in addressing such issues effectively,” the Chief Minister said during his address.

He also emphasized the need for widespread public awareness on cyber safety. “Along with enforcement, proactive education and vigilance are necessary to tackle cyber threats,” he added.

The inaugural event witnessed the presence of Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, Home Secretary Abhishek Singh, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, senior police officials, and elected representatives.

Officials noted that the new cyber crime police station is equipped to handle a wide range of digital offenses and will serve as a specialized unit to investigate, monitor, and prevent cyber-related crimes across the state.

Dr. Saha also reiterated that Tripura has maintained a commendable record in maintaining law and order, and initiatives like this further strengthen the state’s commitment to modern policing.
