Tripura CM Dr Manik Saha Reviews ATR on AIIMS Collaboration

Agartala, January 31, 2026: Chief Minister and Health Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Friday reviewed the Action Taken Report (ATR) prepared under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between AIIMS, New Delhi and the Government of Tripura.

The review meeting, held via video conference, was attended by AIIMS Director Prof. M. Srinivas along with senior officials from both institutions. The Department of Health and Family Welfare presented the ATR, which detailed progress on initiatives stemming from the MoU signed on October 17, 2025.

Under the ongoing reforms, administrative measures include the formation of a unified workforce, strengthening of financial capacity, and the introduction of IT-enabled systems to pave the way for establishing Health Universities in Tripura. Recruitment is being carried out through the Health Department and the Tripura Public Service Commission in line with government norms. In collaboration with AIIMS, joint programs have been launched to support faculty development, training, skill upgradation, and academic reforms. In the field of medical education, new departments and skill-based courses have been introduced, service rules have been revised, and training modules at AIIMS are being implemented to enhance the overall quality of education.

Efforts are being made to expand ICU facilities, operationalize operation theatres, modernize equipment through the PPP model, and streamline supply chain systems. Emergency services are also being strengthened.

The ‘Mera Hospital’ mobile app has been launched to enhance patient satisfaction, while coordination is underway to adopt AIIMS’ ‘Santosh’ app for systematic patient feedback collection.

Reaffirming the state’s commitment, the Health Department stated that Tripura, in partnership with AIIMS, remains focused on comprehensive development of healthcare and medical education.

The meeting was joined by Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director of Health Dr. Debashree Debbarma, Director of Family Welfare and Immunization Dr. Anjan Das, Director of Health Education Prof. (Dr.) H.P. Sharma, Joint Director of Health Dr. Rajesh Anil Acharya, Medical Superintendent of AGMC & GBP Hospital Dr. Bidhan Goswami, and AGMC Principal Prof. (Dr.) Tapan Majumdar.
