Agartala, May 23, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha addressed the ‘Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025’ on Friday, emphasizing the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 5G in the development of India’s northeastern region.

Speaking at the summit themed “IT for Ashtalakshmi: Beyond Bits and Bytes, Into AI and 5G”, Dr. Saha called for harnessing digital technologies to unlock the region’s economic and cultural wealth.

“Our Northeast is a region blessed with natural beauty and abundant resources. But beyond these visible riches lie immense opportunities in the digital domain. AI and 5G can revolutionize how we live, work, and grow,” Dr. Saha said.

The Chief Minister praised the initiative, stating, “I congratulate the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) for organizing this summit. This is not just a platform for ideas but a foundation for action.”

Dr. Saha highlighted the efficiency and cost-effectiveness AI and 5G can bring. “5G’s low latency and high speed, combined with AI’s algorithmic efficiency, will enhance operations across sectors—from healthcare and education to smart cities and agriculture,” he noted.

He cited specific applications, such as real-time diagnostics in healthcare, immersive educational experiences, precision agriculture, and automated warehousing. “AI can analyze massive data sets to guide better governance, and 5G can support up to one million devices per square kilometer, opening endless possibilities,” he explained.

In showcasing Tripura’s efforts, Dr. Saha said, “Our government has already introduced policies supporting IT infrastructure, data centers, and a telemedicine framework. These initiatives are aimed at making governance more transparent, efficient, and responsive.”

He concluded with optimism: “The convergence of AI and 5G is not just technological—it’s transformative. Together, we can bring the promise of ‘Ashtalakshmi’ to every corner of the Northeast.”
