Speaking at a review meeting of the Tripura Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation Limited held at the state secretariat in Agartala city, the Chief Minister said every stage of the industry from production and quality control to business development and marketing must be aligned with national and international market demands. He emphasized blending modern and traditional designs to enhance product acceptance and urged officials to engage expert trainers from outside the state to upgrade artisans’ skills.
Dr. Saha highlighted the need to move beyond conventional craftwork and focus on innovative designs, while also building stronger connections with investors interested in Tripura’s products. He directed officials to prioritize design development, branding, quality assurance, and training programs to ensure artisans are exposed to contemporary trends. “Tripura’s Risa and other handloom and handicraft products are highly valued. They represent our tradition.
