Tripura CM Unveils Drone Technology Centre; Effort To Train Students & Distribute Relief Materials During Natural Calamities

Agartala, November 25, 2022: Tripura Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha on Friday inaugurated Drone Technology Centre at the premises of Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT), Narsingarh, which is about 14 KMs away from the heart of Agartala city.

The Chief Minister – Dr. Saha was accompanied by Education minister Ratanlal Nath, local MLA of Bamutia assembly constituency Krishnadhan Das, Education department secretary Sharadindu Chowdhury and Higher Education Director Nipendra Chandra Sharma.

Addressing the gathering of TIT students, local representatives, inmates of Blind school and others, Chief Minister Dr Saha said that the first technical institute of Tripura was incepted in 1958 with diploma degree in mechanical, electrical and civil courses and the then government had a vision of developing the state youths technologically.

“However, in the 1970s, it is seen the institute have been through very bad times. Later, it was transformed into TIT and its character started changing gradually. At present, this institute has developed a conducive environment for higher studies”, he added.

In the recently conducted “Bharat Drone Mahotsav”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi significantly emphasized on the future of people lies on technology.

Dr Saha said that drones will be manufactured from this centre in near future and the government is working to achieve the target of “Atmanirbhar Tripura”. The government has laid priority on Education and special focus has been given to the development of technology in this state, he also added.

Speaking on the occasion, Education minister Nath said “After we formed the government in Tripura, our slogan was ‘Ek Tripura Shrestha Tripura’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Tripura’.”

“To achieve these targets, our government has started Triple IT and first batch of 14 students passed out successfully followed by placements of all and earning Rs 1.20 crore per annum, ‘Lakshya’ scheme introduced for becoming IAS, IPS, IFS, etc and a girl of Teliamura under Khowai district named Satabdi Majumder had become IAS, 21 out of 22 colleges have been accredited by NAAC. President of India Draupadi Murmu inaugurated National Law University, National Forensic Science University has been opened”, he added.

Not only these, Education minister also said “For the first time, government English medium college has been opened, vocation courses started in 11 general degree colleges, 770 candidates benefited under CM B.Ed Anuprerona Yojana, Post-Graduate courses introduced in six general degree colleges, M.Tech courses in four subjects started in TIT, placement cell in all general degree colleges opened.”

Sharing the issue of teaching staff, Nath said “Altogether, 57 lecturers in regular scale had been appointed in Polytechnic colleges, file processed to Finance department for appointing 150 assistant professors, Skill University, Buddhist University and university of Techno Group are coming up next year.”

Highlighting the significance of Drone Technology Centre, Education minister said “Drones will be highly beneficial for distribution of seeds on agricultural lands, spraying of pesticides and fertilizers, distribution of relief materials during natural calamity in remote areas.” He also said that the state government has utilized drone technology.

Apart from this, he said that this Drone Technology will also help in identification of lands of many residents in villages who have no valid documents of ownership, demarcation of boundaries, etc. Accordingly, Pradhan Mantri Swamitva Yojana was launched in 2021 and so far 36 lakh cards have been distributed in 1.36 lakh villages across the country. Principal of TIT, Narsingarh, Prof Sekhar Datta gave the welcome address.
