The central government had renamed the Agartala airport after Bahadur for his contribution towards the modernization of Tripura, as a result of Deb’s relentless efforts. The BJP-IPFT administration has also proclaimed a holiday commemorating his birth anniversary on August 19.
Born in 1908, the maharaja lived just for 39 years, but accomplished greatest works in the fields of education, infrastructure development and tribal land rights during the Manikya dynasty.
In addition to the airport, bank and treasury; Bahadur had established the first higher educational facility in Tripura.
