A large-scale state-level mock exercise was successfully conducted across Tripura, with a special focus on West Tripura District, to simulate flood and landslide scenarios. Organized by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) under the supervision of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the drill involved around 1,500 participants, including civil defense volunteers, the general public, and emergency response personnel from units like NDRF, SDRF, Fire Services, and the Armed Forces.

The exercise included simultaneous rescue operations at 13 strategic locations, with nearly 50-60 rescue vehicles deployed to simulate real-life scenarios. The central event took place at the International Fair Ground in Hapania, with rescued individuals being transported to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital to complete the emergency response cycle.

Vishal Kumar, District Magistrate of West Tripura, praised the district’s preparedness in disaster management and thanked the NDMA for their support. National-level experts commended the district’s efforts and offered suggestions for further improvement.

In a separate drill, the Maharaja Bir Bikram airport in Agartala conducted an emergency mock exercise to test its preparedness and response capabilities in the event of an aircraft crash. The exercise aimed to evaluate the efficiency of emergency procedures and coordination among responding agencies.

These mock drills are part of Tripura’s ongoing efforts to strengthen disaster resilience and ensure effective responses during natural calamities.
