Agartala, July 07, 2025: Pradesh Congress President Asish Kumar Saha on Monday met the Director General of Police (DGP) of Tripura, raising serious concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and the alleged targeted attacks on opposition parties by ruling party-backed miscreants.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Saha alleged, “The ground under BJP’s feet has shifted. People have lost faith in the ruling party, and out of desperation, they have resorted to acts of terror. Miscreants backed by the ruling party are constantly attacking opposition leaders and supporters across the state.”

He further criticized the role of the police, claiming they were often present during such incidents but failed to take action. “Even though the police are present in many of these attacks, they have remained practically inactive. Law and order in Tripura have completely broken down,” he said.

According to the Congress leader, incidents of vandalism—including attacks on party offices, destruction of motorbikes, and disruption of meetings—have become routine occurrences. “These attacks are happening in broad daylight and in front of the police, who are choosing to remain silent spectators instead of intervening,” he added.

Saha also highlighted the slow progress in the investigation of a recent political murder, alleging that the family of the deceased, Asish, is dissatisfied with the pace and manner of the probe. “The victim’s family has alleged that the investigation is moving sluggishly. They have submitted a letter to the DGP, urging the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to ensure a fair and speedy inquiry,” he said.

Saha urged the police administration to act impartially and uphold the law without political bias.
