Agartala, March 25, 2026: Tripura Congress MLA Birajit Sinha has urged immediate intervention by the authorities over alleged illegal encroachment and unauthorized construction on land belonging to Kailashahar Airport.
In a formal complaint addressed to the Director of Agartala Airport under the Airports Authority of India, Sinha alleged that several portions of land under the jurisdiction of Kailashahar Airport are being encroached upon unlawfully. He stated that activities such as road construction are being carried out without requisite permissions, in clear violation of established norms.
The MLA further claimed that Government Public Prosecutor Advocate Sanjeeb Debroy is allegedly undertaking rapid land filling and pushing forward construction work on the disputed site without obtaining necessary approvals from the competent authorities.
Highlighting the growing concern among local residents, Sinha noted that the situation is creating unease and tension in the area. He cautioned that if prompt action is not taken, the matter could escalate into a more serious and complex issue.
Although the matter has reportedly been brought to the attention of the local police, Sinha emphasized that the land falls under the jurisdiction of the Airports Authority of India, making it imperative for the concerned authorities to take decisive steps. He also pointed out that various social activities are being conducted on the land, further aggravating the situation.
Calling for swift intervention, the Congress MLA demanded that authorities immediately halt all illegal encroachment and unauthorized construction activities and restore full control over the airport land.
