Agartala, November 14, 2022: Tripura’s former Health minister and incumbent Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman on Monday demanded the BJP-led government for initiating a “special audit” on incomes or donations received and expenditures incurred during COVID-19 pandemic period before the common masses within December next.

To unveil the transparency of the BJP-led government in Tripura, the Congress MLA said that the government will accept if they feel that transparency is maintained. He claimed that a large number of interim healthcare institutions were opened, many common people, organizations contributed to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and even the central government has released funds and various machines and equipment were purchased, but has there been any audit!

He sought the government to release a “special audit” by disclosing how much has been spent in which sectors? “Moreover, a bulk quantity of monitors were purchased for the Trauma Care Centre in the premises of AGMC and GBP Hospital here in Agartala city, but at present, are those working? Why are the monitors not replaced? Hence, we, on behalf of people, are demanding a special audit to unveil the real transparency of the government before the assembly election within December next”, said former Health minister Roy Barman in a press conference at Congress Bhavan here in Agartala city on Monday afternoon.

Congress MLA alleged that the state government is misleading the people of Tripura as the assembly election is approaching. “In the name of social pension scheme, Social Welfare and Social Education department has issued a notification on November 04 last that the beneficiaries would be eligible only if the 60 years and above people will submit ‘Age Proof’, ‘Birth Certificate’ & ‘Class X Admit Card’ & ‘PRTC’. Now the thing is, from where they will bring these certificates at the old age of their life. Previously, the beneficiaries got social pensions based on Ration and Aadhar cards. Now, a new rule has been imposed making it mandatory. It is clear that the ruling party has adopted this strategy to pass the election campaign by telling the fairy tale of enrolling 30,000 new social pension beneficiaries”, Roy Barman said.

Taking a jibe at the BJP-led government in Tripura, Congress MLA asked the party and its government to let the people know about the progress of setting up of AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences), Medical College at Ambassa in Dhalai district, etc. Now, all those announcements were buried and showcasing masses that Dental College to be set up. However, the case is pending in the court. Following this, the Dental Council of India is facing problems in giving approval.

He further added that during the former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb regime, it was told that Dam would be constructed on Howrah River to keep the Agartala city away from flood. Now, what is the progress of this dam?
