Agartala, October 06, 2025: Following 72 hours of covert surveillance across multiple states, officials from the Agartala Customs Department successfully intercepted a major drug consignment on Sunday, seizing approximately 6.9 lakh Yaba tablets weighing nearly 69 kilograms.

The operation, led by the local customs unit, involved the strategic halting and inspection of two vehicles. Authorities revealed that the banned tablets had been cleverly concealed beneath a cement load in a truck, which served as cover cargo for the illicit shipment. The estimated market value of the seized narcotics is around ₹69 crore.

During the raid, four individuals were taken into custody. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused may be linked to an international drug trafficking network. Officials are currently interrogating the suspects to identify further connections and unravel the full extent of the smuggling operation.

Customs sources described the concealment method as “highly sophisticated,” underscoring the growing complexity of cross-border narcotics trade. The investigation remains ongoing.
