Agartala, March 30, 2026: Ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, Director General of Police Anurag on Monday convened a high-level meeting at the state police headquarters to assess preparedness and strengthen security arrangements.

The review assumes significance following an attack on the convoy of Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma at Maharanipur on Sunday night, which left two BJP workers injured.

In a social media update, Tripura Police said the meeting was conducted in hybrid mode and attended by senior officials, including District SPs, TSR battalion commandants and SDPOs. The discussions focused on ensuring a smooth and secure electoral process in view of the upcoming TTAADC polls and a by-election.

Officials informed that of the total 1,257 polling stations, 311 have been marked as highly sensitive, while 693 others require additional security attention.

To manage the situation effectively, nearly 11,000 personnel from central forces and the Tripura State Rifles are expected to be deployed on polling day.

The Left Front has called for central paramilitary forces to be stationed at all polling booths to guarantee free and fair elections. However, officials indicated that the availability of additional forces may be constrained due to their deployment in Assembly elections in states such as West Bengal and Assam.

Security measures are being intensified across the state, with special focus on vulnerable and sensitive locations, police sources said.
