Agartala, November 10, 2025: In a remarkable medical achievement, doctors at Unakoti District Hospital have successfully removed a large and complex fibroid tumor from a 35-year-old woman from Lakshmipur, a village under the Gournagar RD Block in Tripura’s Unakoti district. The surgery has not only alleviated years of suffering but also rekindled her hope of becoming a mother.

The patient had endured seven years of debilitating pain and abnormal monthly bleeding, which severely impacted her quality of life and delayed her dream of motherhood. Upon seeking treatment at the hospital’s Obstetrics and Gynecology department, diagnostic tests revealed a massive fibroid tumor measuring 14 by 12 centimeters in her ovary. The tumor had also begun to exert pressure on her right kidney, causing additional complications.

Following medical evaluation, the hospital’s surgical team recommended a myomectomy—a complex procedure to remove fibroid tumors. The operation was led by Dr. Sumit Das, a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, and lasted nearly two hours. During the surgery, the patient received two units of blood. Anesthesia was administered by Dr. Rupamoy Das, while the operating theatre team included Nursing Officers Kaberi Saha and Sathi Ghosh, along with OT technician Subhash Sinha.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the medical team, the tumor was successfully removed in its entirety. The patient is currently recovering in the post-operative ward of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department, and hospital sources confirm that her condition is stable.
