Agartala, October 16, 2025: Preparations are in full swing for the annual Diwali fair at the sacred Mata Tripurasundari Temple, also known as Matabari, scheduled to begin on October 20. The three-day fair, which draws thousands of devotees each year, will continue till October 22, with elaborate administrative and security measures being finalized to ensure a smooth and safe celebration.
On Thursday, Gomati District Superintendent of Police Dr. Kiran Kumar K visited the temple premises to review the preparations and inspect the security arrangements. Speaking after the inspection, he said, “Like every year, a three-day Diwali fair has been organized at the Mata Tripurasundari temple on October 20, 21 and 22. All administrative preparations are nearing completion.”
To maintain law and order and ensure the safety of visitors, more than 2,500 security personnel will be deployed during the fair. The force will include personnel from the state police, Tripura State Rifles (TSR), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
In addition to manpower, technological and logistical arrangements have been enhanced. A total of 37 CCTV cameras, 28 drop gates, 8 police support centers, and 10 watchtowers will be set up across the fairgrounds for continuous monitoring.
Dr. Kumar further informed that security across the Matabari Chattar area has been intensified in view of the Diwali celebrations. Night patrolling teams have been deployed, and special vigilance is being maintained in surrounding areas to prevent any untoward incidents.
The SP assured that the police and administration are fully prepared to ensure that the Diwali fair at the Tripureshwari temple proceeds peacefully and with devotion.
