Agartala, March 12, 2026: A three-member delegation from the Election Commission of India on Thursday held a review meeting with senior administrative and security officials in Dharmanagar to assess the preparedness for the upcoming by-election to the 56-Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency.
The meeting was held at 10:45 AM in the conference hall of the District Magistrate and Collector’s office of North Tripuradistrict. The session focused on reviewing administrative arrangements, security measures and overall readiness for conducting the by-poll smoothly.
The Election Commission delegation comprised N.T. Bhutia, Principal Secretary, Santosh Kumar Dubey, Secretary, and Vijay Gupta, Section Officer of the Commission. They interacted with district officials and examined the preparedness of different departments involved in the election process.
Among those present at the meeting were District Magistrate and Collector Chandni Chandran, District Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai, Additional Superintendent of Police Kamal Debbarma, and other senior officials of the administration and police.
Officials associated with the election process also attended the meeting, including Returning Officer of the 56-Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency Devyani Chowdhury, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Dharmanagar, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Panisagar Sushant Debbarma, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Kanchanpur Ashish Biswas, along with assistant collectors and other election officials.
During the meeting, the Election Commission representatives reviewed preparations for the by-election and issued necessary directions to ensure smooth and transparent conduct of the polls.
Although the date for the by-election to the 56-Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency has not yet been announced, District Magistrate Chandni Chandran said that the district administration has already completed preparations on all fronts.
“Administrative preparations are complete in all aspects, and the district administration is fully ready to conduct the election whenever the schedule is announced by the Election Commission,” Chandran stated.
