Agartala, November 17, 2025: The Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission (TERC) has issued the electricity tariff for 2025–26 with a clear focus on reducing the financial load on consumers living in remote parts of the state. The new tariff came into effect on November 1.

As part of the revised structure, TERC introduced a 10 per cent rebate for hospitals, home-stays, women’s self-help group–run enterprises and mobile towers operating in remote zones. Officials said the initiative aims to strengthen essential services, improve connectivity and support economic activity in underserved areas.

In a major relief to consumers, the Commission announced that energy charges will remain unchanged across all categories, ensuring that households do not face any rise in their monthly electricity expenses.

TERC has also expanded benefits under the Kutir Jyoti scheme for low-income families. The permissible connected load has been increased from 120 watts to 500 watts, and the monthly consumption limit has been doubled to 30 units. According to the Commission, the changes will enable economically weaker households to run basic appliances without extra financial stress.

The regulator further stated that fixed charges will now be calculated based on connected load instead of per connection, a method it described as more transparent and equitable.

Consumers will continue to have the option of purchasing green power at an additional cost of 75 paise per unit, encouraging those who wish to shift toward cleaner energy sources.

Overall, the tariff for 2025–26 combines targeted rebates, extended support for vulnerable households and stability in energy charges, offering a range of benefits to electricity consumers across Tripura.
