Tripura: Four Youths Held With Firearms in Kailashahar; Tension Grips Tilakpur

Agartala, November 24, 2025: Tension gripped the Tilakpur area of Tripura’s Kailashahar under Unakoti district late Sunday night after four youths were found roaming with firearms near the Unakoti District Hospital. Alert local residents spotted the youths behaving suspiciously around 10 pm and quickly surrounded them, leading to a chaotic scene.

Local sources informed that the crowd detained the youths identified as Dilwar Hossain, Arsad Ali, Suhel Mia and Ashraf Ali, all residents of Tilakpur and Dhepachhra areas. The mob allegedly assaulted them before informing authorities.

Soon after receiving the information, fire service personnel and police reached the spot and rescued the injured youths. They were immediately shifted to Unakoti District Hospital, where all four are currently undergoing treatment.

Speaking on the incident, Kailashahar Police Station OC Tapas Malakar said, “We reached the location promptly after receiving complaints from locals. Two guns were recovered from the detained youths. They were admitted to the hospital in injured condition. An investigation is underway examining all angles.”

The incident has sparked fear and unrest among residents of Tilakpur and nearby areas. Locals have raised serious concerns about public safety and security. Police officials, however, assured that the situation is under control and that surveillance in the area has been intensified.
