Agartala, May 28, 2025: Tripura is all set to roll out the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan from May 29, with the ambitious agricultural outreach campaign scheduled to cover around 864 locations across the state. The announcement was made by Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath during a press briefing on Tuesday.
The campaign, aligned with national efforts and aimed at boosting self-reliance in agriculture ahead of the Kharif season, will continue till June 12. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is expected to visit the state in connection with the initiative, though his visit is yet to be finalized.
“In every district, three dedicated committees have been constituted. Daily sessions will be held with 200 farmers in three time slots—9 to 11 AM, 12 to 2 PM, and 3 to 5 PM,” Nath said.
Each committee comprises officials from the Agriculture, Horticulture, ARDD, and Fisheries Departments, along with agricultural scientists, representatives from Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), ICAR, and the state’s Agricultural and Veterinary Colleges. Progressive farmers will also actively participate.
A total of 72 meetings will be conducted throughout the state, accompanied by the deployment of 24 Krishi Raths. These mobile units will carry informative banners and materials about various central and state schemes, covering sectors like agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, and fisheries.
The inaugural event will be held at Bishramganj in Sepahijala district, with Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha scheduled to launch the campaign. All ministers, MLAs, MDCs, and local representatives will take part in the state-wide activities.
“The primary aim is to reassure farmers that the government stands firmly with them—providing technological support, training, and access to multiple welfare schemes,” Nath emphasized.
So far, around 1.72 lakh farmers have been directly contacted as part of the preparatory drive, and nearly 200 scientists will engage with them during the campaign.
