Agartala, July 16, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday announced that the BJP-led government has appointed 19,742 regular employees across various departments since coming to power seven years ago.
Speaking at a formal appointment letter distribution ceremony for 184 newly recruited junior engineers, Dr. Saha asserted, “Since the BJP-led government assumed office, a total of 19,742 regular posts in different government departments have been filled,” dismissing opposition allegations of insufficient recruitment. He further revealed that another 8,000 jobs have been created through contractual and outsourcing modes.
Dr. Saha emphasised that employment generation is a key part of the government’s larger vision for youth empowerment. “We are focusing on making the youth self-reliant. In 2018, the number of Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the state was only 4,000. Today, that number has risen to 56,000, providing livelihood opportunities to thousands,” he said.
Highlighting the government’s investment in infrastructure, the Chief Minister stated that ₹7,000 crore has been allocated in the current state budget to strengthen Tripura’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).
Welcoming the newly appointed engineers into public service, Dr. Saha urged them to embrace emerging technologies. “With the advent of AI and 5G, the way we work has changed. Using modern tools will significantly improve the quality and efficiency of your work,” he said, encouraging them to help build a modern and developed Tripura.
Addressing concerns over project delays, he acknowledged that extended monsoon seasons often affect construction timelines due to administrative and logistical challenges.
