Agartala, July 31, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to narrowing the gap in Dearness Allowance (DA) between state and central government employees, while also outlining a roadmap for improving the state’s healthcare infrastructure.

Speaking at a programme of medical officers here in Agartala city, the Chief Minister noted that central government employees currently receive 53% DA, while their state counterparts in Tripura are entitled to only 33%. “In the last 29 months, we have provided 29% DA to state employees. Our aim is to bridge this gap gradually,” Dr. Saha said.

He further informed that since the BJP assumed office in Tripura, over 19,000 regular government positions have been filled, reflecting the administration’s push for employment and transparency.

Taking a swipe at the opposition CPI(M), Dr. Saha defended the government’s public distribution of appointment letters, calling it a symbol of transparency. “Unlike the previous regime, we issue appointment letters in open programmes—not through party offices,” he alleged.

Referring to the long-standing controversy over terminated teachers, Saha cited the judiciary’s stance on the issue. “The termination of 10,323 teachers due to illegal appointments was upheld by the Supreme Court following the Tripura High Court’s verdict,” he said.

Shifting focus to healthcare, the Chief Minister unveiled plans to establish Tripura as a medical hub. He announced proposals for new medical, nursing, and paramedical colleges and emphasized the goal of reducing referrals for critical care to outside the state. Key initiatives include a modern eye hospital near GBP Hospital and AGMC, and a proposed super-specialty hospital in Khujurbagan, Agartala.

Dr. Saha reiterated his government’s commitment to delivering quality medical services to the people of Tripura and ensuring access to advanced treatment within the state.
