Agartala, December 1, 2025: The Tripura government has published the official holiday list for 2026, granting two additional holidays for government employees on account of major festivals that fall on Sundays.
According to the notification, Lakshmi Puja will be observed on Sunday, October 25, 2026. As the festival coincides with the weekly holiday, the government has declared Monday, October 26, 2026 as a compensatory holiday.
Likewise, Diwali is scheduled to be celebrated on Sunday, November 8, 2026. To ensure uninterrupted observance of the festival, Monday, November 9, 2026 has been notified as a public holiday.
The additional holidays were announced following an initiative of Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, aimed at enabling government staff to celebrate important cultural and religious occasions with their families. The decision is also intended to promote better work–life balance for state employees while respecting traditional observances.
