Agartala, June 17, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to uplifting the socio-economic conditions of people living in marginal areas, emphasizing the need for focused planning and execution of development initiatives.

Addressing the first meeting of the Tripura State Employment Guarantee Council for the financial year 2025–26 at the Secretariat today, Dr. Saha stated, “The government’s primary objective is to bring the benefits of development—particularly in infrastructure and connectivity—to the most underserved regions of the state.”

Highlighting the pivotal role of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in strengthening the rural economy, the Chief Minister noted that with a majority of the state being rural, MGNREGA serves as a vital instrument for creating sustainable assets and employment.

Dr. Saha called on administrative officials—from District Magistrates to Community Development Officers—to maintain close coordination with local elected representatives to ensure the successful implementation of development programs. He also stressed the importance of transparency, timely reporting of issues, and quick resolution mechanisms to address implementation challenges.

“Quality monitoring must be a continuous process, and people’s representatives should be kept updated about the progress of work. Any roadblock in development execution should be flagged promptly for resolution,” he added.

The meeting was attended by several key state functionaries, including Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Cooperative Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, Science and Technology Minister Animesh Debbarma, and multiple MLAs and MDCs. Top bureaucrats, including Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha and Secretary of the Rural Development Department Abhishek Singh, were also present, along with District Magistrates from all eight districts.
