Agartala, September 12, 2025: In a significant move to promote uniformity, discipline, and equality in government schools, the Tripura Directorate of Secondary Education has issued a directive to implement standardized school uniforms for students from Classes I to XII across all government schools in the state, effective from the next academic session.
The official memorandum emphasizes that all Vidyajyoti Schools, PM-SHRI Schools, and other government schools will adopt a common uniform, except for four specific institutions which have been exempted: Shishu Bihar H.S. School, Sukhamoy H.S. School, Umakanta Academy- all in West Tripura District and PM SHRI Radha Kishore Institution in Unakoti District.
For the current academic year only, schools are permitted to continue using the existing uniforms alongside the newly prescribed designs to ensure a smooth transition. However, strict adherence to the standardized uniform policy will be mandatory from the beginning of the next academic session.
Under the centrally funded Samagra Shiksha scheme, uniforms are already being provided to students from Classes I to VIII, and the distribution of the newly prescribed uniforms has already commenced and will soon be completed.
The measure aims to reinforce discipline, promote equality, and foster a strong, unified institutional identity among students throughout the state.
District Education Officers (DEOs) have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the directive and report back on the implementation status.
The memorandum was signed by the Additional Secretary of the Education (School) Department, Government of Tripura, and has been issued for immediate information and necessary action.
