Agartala, August 25, 2022 : Tripura government is contemplating to formulate a policy for the ‘Divyangjan’ within next one month aiming to provide better facilities in their livelihood, said Social Welfare and Social Education minister Santana Chakma on Thursday.
As part of three-year completion of the body of Paschim Tripura Zilla Parishad, a felicitation ceremony of meritorious ‘Divyangjan’ students who topped in board examinations has been organized at the premises of the District Magistrate and Collector’s office of West Tripura district.
Speaking to reporters here, minister Chakma said “A felicitation ceremony for the ‘Divyangjan’ has been organized with the initiative of Paschim Tripura Zilla Parishad as part of three-years completion for the first time here in Agartala city on Thursday.
“People should not feel ‘Divyangjan’ as a burden in their life. People should treat each and every person and ‘Divyangjan’ equally. The state government is mulling to frame a policy for the ‘Divyang’ people and it is expected that the policy will be formulated within the next one month through which more facilities can be provided to ‘Divyangjan’ section of people”, she said.
Chakma also said “There are various schemes of the central and state governments, we are working on the direction to provide better facilities and opportunities to the ‘Divyang’ people of the state. To reach the target of ‘Ek Tripura Shrestha Tripura’, we will move forward towards development in the coming days.”
Zilla Parishad’s Sabhadipati Antara Deb Sarkar said “The ‘Divyangjan’ are not neglected in the society and they are not felt as a burden. In the coming days, we are determined to provide more opportunities to Divyanjans in a nice way with various schemes, this is our plan.”
In this felicitation ceremony, West Tripura DM Debapriya Bardhan and others were present.
