Agartala, August 23, 2025: The Tripura government has rolled out a set of welfare measures aimed at extending support to Antyodaya families and differently-abled persons. The decisions were taken at a cabinet meeting held on August 20, Cabinet spokesperson and Minister Sushanta Chowdhury informed at a press conference in the Secretariat.
Chowdhury said that under the Chief Minister’s Kanya Bivah Yojana, financial assistance of ₹50,000 will be given for the marriage of girls belonging to Antyodaya families. Similarly, under the Chief Minister’s Antyodaya Shraddhajanji Yojana, funeral aid for such families has been raised from ₹2,000 to ₹10,000.
The Minister also announced a new initiative, the Chief Minister’s Scheme for Mentally Challenged Persons, under which eligible beneficiaries will receive a monthly allowance of ₹5,000.
Besides social welfare decisions, the cabinet also approved the creation of 45 posts of Senior Manager (Electrical) under TSECL, 25 posts in the Law (PA) Department, and filling up of four vacant CDPO posts under the Education (Social Welfare & Social Education) Department.
“These initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to ensuring social security and welfare for the most vulnerable sections of society,” Chowdhury said.
