Agartala, March 16, 2026: The Tripura government on Monday unveiled a ₹34,212.31 crore Budget for the financial year 2026–27 in the State Legislative Assembly, promising a stronger push toward development and welfare.
Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, while tabling the Budget, said the fiscal plan is designed to advance the vision of a “Viksit Tripura”. The Budget estimates a fiscal deficit of ₹240.72 crore.
A major announcement came from Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who declared a 5% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for state employees and pensioners. Effective April 1, 2026, the revision will benefit over 1.02 lakh employees and 81,000 pensioners, adding an annual burden of nearly ₹500 crore to the state exchequer.
Capital expenditure has been fixed at ₹8,945.92 crore, reflecting a 13.19% rise over last year’s estimates. The Finance Minister said the higher allocation underscores the government’s focus on infrastructure and development projects.
The Budget also outlines new programmes targeting Janajati welfare, healthcare expansion, education, employment generation, road connectivity, industrial growth, and farmer support. Tourism promotion and crime reduction—credited to improved governance—were highlighted as additional priorities.
Presented on the second day of the ongoing Budget Session chaired by Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Paul, the government described the fiscal plan as a “comprehensive roadmap” for inclusive growth and improved quality of life across communities.
