Agartala, June 9, 2026: With preparations underway for the 30th Sindhu Darshan Yatra and the inaugural Sindhu Mahakumbh, Himalayan Parivar Tripura Pradesh has set up a dedicated Himalaya Visitors Assistance Centre to support pilgrims and travellers from Tripura planning to visit Leh-Ladakh.

Addressing a press conference in Agartala on Tuesday, Tripura Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chief Patron of Himalayan Parivar Tripura, Ramprasad Paul said the initiative aims to provide guidance, logistical support and travel-related assistance to participants of the annual pilgrimage. He highlighted that the organisation is making special efforts this year to increase participation from Tripura, particularly among members of the media fraternity.

According to Paul, journalists from various parts of the country regularly take part in the Leh-Ladakh pilgrimage under the banner of Himalayan Parivar, but representation from Tripura has remained limited. To encourage greater participation, the state unit has introduced a special concessional travel package for journalists from Tripura.

Under the arrangement, the organisation will cover major expenses for participating journalists, including travel from Kurukshetra to Leh-Ladakh, accommodation, meals and other essential arrangements throughout the 17-day journey. Journalists will also have the opportunity to undertake the pilgrimage along with their spouses under the same support programme.

Paul said the newly launched assistance centre will not only cater to journalists but will also help members of the public interested in joining the pilgrimage. The centre will provide information and guidance regarding travel plans, registration and other requirements related to the yatra.

The pilgrimage is scheduled to commence from Kurukshetra on June 18, with devotees and visitors from different states expected to participate in the spiritual journey to Leh-Ladakh. Organisers expressed hope that the initiative would help increase participation from Tripura and strengthen awareness about the cultural and spiritual significance of the Sindhu Darshan Yatra.
