Agartala, December 8, 2025: The Tripura Human Rights Commission (THRC) will observe International Human Rights Day on December 10 at Pragna Bhaban, Hall No. 1, Agartala, with the theme “Human Rights: Our Everyday Essentials.” The programme will begin at 11 AM and continue till 1 PM.
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha will attend the event as the Inaugurator and Chief Guest, while DGP Tripura, Anurag Dhankar, IPS, will remain present as Guest of Honour. Other dignitaries include Jharna Debbarma, Chairperson, Tripura Commission for Women; Shri Sankar Das, TJS Gr-I, Secretary, Law Department; and Saktimoy Chakraborty, Advocate General of Tripura. The programme will be presided over by Justice Arindam Lodh, Chairperson of THRC.
The event will feature lighting of the lamp, a welcome song, and speeches by the invited dignitaries. A detailed minute-to-minute schedule has been prepared, with the Chief Minister delivering the keynote address at 12:00 PM. The programme will conclude with a vote of thanks from Dhan Babu Reang, IAS, Secretary, THRC.
According to official data presented by THRC, from 2016 to November 29, 2025, the commission received 680 complaints, of which 579 cases have been disposed of, leaving 101 pending. The commission has recommended compensation in 62 cases, amounting to ₹97,03,309.
Since its inception, THRC has also undertaken significant awareness activities, including 22 awareness programmes and 12 internship programmes. The Commission has published multiple newsletters, annual reports, and versions of the Tripura Human Rights Commission Regulations and Universal Declaration of Human Rights in different languages.
The observance aims to strengthen public awareness and reinforce the importance of safeguarding human rights in everyday life.
