Agartala, February 7, 2026: Tripura police arrested a youth from Myanmar for allegedly residing illegally in the Hapania area under Amtali police station limits. The accused has been identified as Kabil Anam.
According to police sources, Kabil Anam had been staying in the Hapania area for the past two months without valid documents. Acting on a specific tip-off, a team from Amtali police conducted an operation and detained him from the area on Friday.
Following his arrest, a case was registered against him under relevant sections of the law, and an investigation was initiated. On Saturday afternoon, the accused was produced before the court, where police sought his remand for further interrogation.
Police officials believe that custodial questioning will help ascertain how the foreign national entered the area, who provided him shelter, and whether any local assistance or network was involved in facilitating his stay.
Amtali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das confirmed the arrest and stated that further details would emerge as the investigation progresses.
