Agartala, May 13, 2025: A 39-year-old man has been arrested by the Teliamura police for allegedly posting derogatory comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his personal social media account. The accused identified as Tajul Islam Mia is a resident of the Maharanipur Jaruilong Bari area and works as a driver.

“A case has been registered against the accused under specific legal provisions. He was arrested last night following instructions from senior officials,” said a police officer familiar with the matter.

According to the police report, the objectionable post was flagged by higher authorities, who forwarded the link to Teliamura Police Station for immediate action. The accused allegedly used his personal social media handle to make disparaging remarks about the Prime Minister.

“The comments made by the individual were derogatory in nature and violated certain legal boundaries. We acted on the information promptly after receiving the directive from our superiors,” the officer added.

The police have initiated a detailed investigation, and further legal proceedings are underway.
