Tripura Minister Bikash Debbarma Meets Union Minister Jual Oram, Seeks Central Support to Boost Tribal Education and Infrastructure

Agartala, June 06, 2025: In a concerted push to enhance the quality of life and education in tribal regions of Tripura, the state’s Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma on Thursday met Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram in New Delhi. The meeting focused on securing central assistance to improve infrastructure and educational facilities in tribal-dominated areas of the northeastern state.

During the interaction, Minister Debbarma presented a detailed picture of the socio-economic conditions prevailing in remote tribal belts of Tripura. He stressed the need for urgent interventions in rural development, electricity access, and establishment of better schools and colleges to ensure meaningful progress for tribal communities.

“Key discussions revolved around strengthening road connectivity, ensuring reliable electricity in hamlets, modernizing educational institutions, and promoting higher education among tribal youths,” Debbarma shared in a social media post.

Union Minister Oram responded positively, assuring all necessary support from the Centre. “The government is committed to ensuring inclusive growth and empowering tribal communities across the country,” he said, expressing interest in the proposals put forward.

Following the meeting, Minister Debbarma emphasized the importance of quality education in shaping the future of tribal youth. “Our children must have access to education that enables them to become the leaders of tomorrow,” he remarked.
