Tripura Minister Kishor Barman Lauds ABRSM’s Role in Educational Development

Agartala, September 15, 2025: The Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh, Tripura (Mahavidyalaya Shiksha), held its Annual General Meeting 2025 on Sunday at Nazrul Kalakshetra here in Agartala city. The event was attended by dignitaries, teachers, and academicians, and began with the ceremonial Deep Prajwalan and Pushpanjali, followed by Saraswati Vandana.

The highlight of the morning session was the launch of ABRSM’s Annual Issue 2025 by Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman, who praised the organization’s commitment to “constructive dialogue and educational development.” A short film showcasing ABRSM’s Sangathan Vikash Yatra highlighted the organization’s sustained efforts in advancing education.

In his keynote address, Minister Barman commended ABRSM for addressing “the root of problems in education and society, offering practical solutions rather than resorting to agitation.”He emphasized, “ABRSM believes in dialogue and development, and that is why its role in shaping education in Tripura is unique.” Drawing a sharp contrast with Left-affiliated organizations, he remarked that such groups rely on “coercion, political subscriptions, and disruptive protests,”whereas ABRSM stands for constructive engagement.

Minister Barman also stressed the importance of reviving India’s ancient knowledge traditions while aligning them with the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India). He expressed appreciation for ABRSM’s significant contributions during the formulation of the National Education Policy (NEP), and criticized Left-affiliated groups for their non-participation in meaningful educational reforms.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to teachers, Barman assured the assembly of concrete steps to strengthen the education sector, including the speedy recruitment of 401 Assistant Professors and 16 Principals, timely preparation of academic calendars, and the implementation of measures for pension, DA, insurance, and transparent recruitment policies. He underscored the need for a “collective change in attitude for the betterment of education and society”, asserting that the Government stands firmly with the teaching community.

Debashish Roy Chowdhury, General Secretary of ABRSM Tripura, welcomed guests and thanked them for attending despite their busy schedules. He outlined the day’s agenda, which included the presentation of the Annual General Report (2024–25), the Audited Statement of Income and Expenditure, and a cultural programme. The event’s highlight was the release of ABRSM’s Annual Issue 2025 by Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman, who commended the organization’s role in fostering educational dialogue. A short film on Sangathan Vikash Yatra showcased ABRSM’s contributions to education. Dr. Dhirendra Debnath emphasized ABRSM’s non-political stance and its focus on holistic educational development. Mahendra Kapoor highlighted the role of teachers in nation-building and advocated for reviving India’s ancient knowledge systems. He urged educators to adopt a responsible, knowledge-driven approach. President Tirtharam Reang detailed ABRSM’s year-long efforts and raised key issues including faculty shortages, service benefits, academic calendars, and notional pay fixation demands.

The first session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Prasenjit Debbarma, Secretary of ABRSM and Coordinator of AGM 2025.

In the second session, four teachers were felicitated for their exceptional contributions to higher education. Dr. Arjun Gope, Saha-Pramukh, Assam Kshetra, spoke on ABRSM’s pivotal role in enhancing education. This was followed by the presentation of the Annual General Report (2024-25) by Sri Debashish Roy Chowdhury and the Audited Statement of Income and Expenditure (2024-25) by Sri Tapanjyoti Malakar, Treasurer, ABRSM Tripura.

The AGM concluded with a vibrant cultural programme titled ‘Operation Sindoor’, showcasing the artistic talents of ABRSM members, and ended on a patriotic note with Rastra Vandana.

The event reinforced ABRSM’s consistent vision of strengthening education in Tripura through dialogue, reform, and the revival of India’s rich educational traditions, with Minister Kishor Barman affirming the government’s unwavering support for the teaching community.
