Agartala, February 06, 2026: Tripura’s Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing the party of “ruining” West Bengal and asserting that only the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) can restore the state’s future.

Speaking at the second phase of the Booth Vijay Workshop for Krishnanagar South Assembly Constituencies 1 and 2 under the Nadia North organizational district, Nath urged BJP workers to intensify efforts at the grassroots level. “There was a saying that what Bengal thinks today, India thinks tomorrow. They have destroyed West Bengal. The CPIM did it earlier, and now the Trinamool Congress is doing the same. People must act, and you BJP karyakartas have to strengthen your Shakti Kendras. We will extend all possible support,” he said.

Highlighting Tripura’s progress under BJP rule, Nath contrasted the state’s development with Bengal’s. “During the CPIM’s 35-year rule in Tripura, only 72,000 government houses were built. In the last seven years, we have delivered 4.96 lakh homes. Our per capita income stands at Rs 1.98 lakh, compared to Rs 1.54 lakh in West Bengal. Tripura is witnessing rapid growth and welfare-driven governance. We must strive to form a BJP government in Bengal as well,” he added.

Nath also linked regional progress to India’s broader economic ambitions, noting that the country has become the world’s fourth-largest economy and aims to reach the top position by 2047 with contributions from all states.

The workshop was attended by Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Chairman Nabadal Banik, Nadia North BJP President Arjun Biswas, and several party leaders and workers.
