Agartala, August 04, 2025: Power, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Monday visited the residence of Daniel Debbarma, a recently deceased youth, and directed the West District Police Administration to immediately arrest those responsible for the fatal attack.

“I have clearly instructed the Superintendent of Police and the Officer-in-Charge of the concerned police station to arrest the culprits without delay,” the Minister said during his visit. “Swift and strict action must be taken. The family wants justice — and we stand with them.”

Daniel Debbarma, a secondary school graduate, was reportedly attacked along with his friends by a group of miscreants in the Tairajbari area of Mohanpur constituency. He later succumbed to his injuries at GB Pant Hospital.

Narrating the incident, Nath said, “At the time, I was in Delhi. Daniel and his friends had gone for a walk in Birmohan area. On their way back, they were suddenly attacked. Daniel was seriously injured and later passed away. The entire area has erupted in grief and outrage.”

The Minister, accompanied by Executive Member Runeil Debbarma, BAC Chairman Randhir Debbarma, and senior officials, met with Daniel’s grieving family and offered condolences. He also visited the residence of another youth injured in the same incident and spoke with their family members.

Calling the tragedy “heart-wrenching,” Nath added, “I am deeply saddened by this untimely death. The culprits must be punished, there can be no compromise. Police have already recovered the bikes used by the attackers. We are hopeful the arrests will be made very soon.”
