Tripura Minister Ratan Lal Nath Visits NBIRT Arkaneer, Appreciates Renewable Energy Training Initiatives

Agartala, April 02, 2026: Ratan Lal Nath, Minister for Power, and Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Tripura visited NB Institute for Rural Technology on Thursday and reviewed the institute’s renewable energy training activities.

During his visit to NBIRT “Arkaneer”, the Minister interacted with trainees enrolled in the Solar PV Installation Helper training programme being conducted under Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency and the state Skill Development initiative. He took keen interest in understanding the methodology adopted by the institute for imparting practical solar photovoltaic installation training to participants.

During an interactive session, P.L. Ghosh, Technical Advisor of NBIRT Arkaneer, briefed the Minister on the institute’s various activities in the renewable energy sector and explained its efforts in promoting sustainable rural technologies.

The Minister was also introduced to several installations and innovative products developed by the institute, including a solar dryer, bamboo torchlight, and other renewable energy-based equipment. Institute officials highlighted how these technologies are being used to promote sustainable livelihoods and rural innovation.

Responding to a proposal placed by the institute, the Minister assured that efforts would be made to convert the existing electricity supply system of NBIRT Arkaneer into a solar-based system, reinforcing the government’s emphasis on renewable energy and sustainability.

Before concluding his visit, the Minister expressed curiosity to know more about the institute and its founder, Hony. Prof. (Dr.) S.P. Gon Chaudhuri, and highly appreciated the activities being carried out by the organisation. He thanked the team members of NBIRT for their work and assured necessary support for trained trainees in the near future.

The visit is being seen as an encouraging boost for renewable energy skill development initiatives in the state.
